ABOUT MY WORK
As the first student of
cross-media studies at the Basel School of Art I was able to complete
my training in various artistic fields. And today I still find myself
moving back and forwards between drawing, sound, photography and
the electronic image, according to the project I happen to be working
on. I see art primarily as an expression of creativity based on
culture - more specifically an intercultural expression of creativity
of which the focal point is the multifacetted phenomenon of human
existence. As a result of enriching exchanges with men and women
in the arts field in Africa and Australia, I have been made aware
of similarities and differences that serve to guide me in my own
artistic development. Step by step, I complete works that embody
a vision that encompasses political, human, social and personal
themes. Everything is a potential source of ideas: that which is
banal, unconventional, black, white, colourful, historical, womanly.
I attempt to trap fleeting moments that belong to all of us and
present them in my work.
